Hall Hunter is one of the leading producers of berries in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1966 by Mary and Mark, the parents of the current managing partner, “Harry Hall.” With a love of traditional British farm life, the couple started the business, living on Heathlands Farm in Wokingham, where they live to this day. They began by growing and selling vegetables for London markets, and they invited customers to come and pick their own.
Over the years, the business has grown into what it is today; one of the UK’s leading producers of berries. Following in his parents’ footsteps, Harry too lives on one of the farms with his family, at Tuesley Farm in Godalming. Hall Hunter now owns three farms, and continues to thrive. All members of the team have a real passion for what they do.
Working at Hall Hunter
Hall Hunter requires a large number of committed seasonal workers for fruit picking and other fruit farming jobs at their three rural, farm locations in the UK: Sheeplands Farm, Heathlands Farm, and Tuesley Farm.
Presently, the minimum wage in the UK is £10.42 (from April 1, 2023). In the past, our workers have earned over 5% more than the UK minimum wage. This is possible, depending on your role and individual performance. For reference, in 2022, the average weekly salary at Hall Hunter was £512.
How is your pay determined?
Your pay will be determined by:
- How much fruit you manage to pick each day
- The quality of the berries you pick
How do you get paid?
As seasonal workers, you will be paid weekly directly into your UK bank account (the farm office will provide you with assistance in getting an account set up). UK taxes and National Insurance will be deducted before you receive your pay, and you will be paid holiday pay.
What are the working hours?
Hall Hunter offers a decently average amount of working hours. The majority of their pickers put in about eight hours a day, six days a week. There is typically overtime available, with rates starting in April 2023 at £13.03.
